Az 1960-as évek közepén Debrecenből érkezett főiskolai tanulók hirdettek tanfolyamot Baján, az ő munkájukat vette át a Testnevelési Főiskoláról hazatérő Gyuró László, 1967-ben vezetésével alakult meg az első hivatalos dzsúdószakosztály Baján, amely azóta is folyamatosan működik egyesületi keretek között.
